Advocacy in Action: NC in DC Advocacy Event 2009
January 3-6, 2009

EVENT SUMMARY
Departing from Raleigh, NC on the morning of Saturday, January 3rd,
event participants will have an opportunity to advocate directly at the national level on behalf of
their institution and constituents. Participants will meet with government personnel from
Congress and the Executive Branch, as well as interact with members of special interest groups
that work on behalf of students and student issues. Event participants will also have an
opportunity to tour the United States Marine Corps Museum, the Supreme Court, the National
Archives, and the many other attractions housed in the nation’s capital.
Transportation to/from Washington, DC will be via bus furnished by the UNC Association of
Student Governments. Event registration provides a hotel room for the 4 day, 3 night trip and
access to an evening event. Participants are responsible for individual meal and Metro costs they
incur during the trip. Participants will return via bus to Raleigh, NC on the evening of Tuesday,
January 6th, 2009.

EVENT REGISTRATION COSTS
Participants will stay at the Homewood Suites by Hilton,
located at 1475 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington DC 20005. Rooms are quad-style,
designed to accommodate 4 participants each. Registration includes bus transportation to/from
Washington DC, and participation in an evening event during the trip (details TBA).

Registration costs are:
Regular Quad / 4 to a Room: $200.00
Double / 2 to a Room:
$350.00
Single / 1 to a Room:
$625.00

Participation is limited to the first 55 registrants, on a first-come first-served basis. Registrants
are required to complete a waiver form provided by UNC General Administration Legal Affairs.
Checks should be made payable to “UNCASG” and submitted to T. Greg Doucette (President),
Jason Smith (CFO), Eileen Marin (Advisor) or Anne Aichele (Graduate Advisor).
A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is due by December 1st.
The remaining balance is due by December 15th.
